This is a healthier version of “Salisbury Steaks” which is an American dish using minced beef to imitate steaks with a rich sauce.
“Steaks”
Sauce
1.
Mix together the beef mince, eggs, flaxseed, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, Italian herb seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste and dijon mustard
2.
Using your hands, create burger shaped patties out of the beef mixture
3.
Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large pan over medium high heat
4.
Once searing hot, sear each “steak” for about 5 minutes each side. Then set aside
5.
Add the onion and cook for about 3 minutes, stirring to avoid sticking
6.
Add the garlic and mushrooms and cook for another 5 minutes
7.
Turn the heat down tot medium, and add the butter.
8.
Once the butter has fully melted, add the dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, beef stock and stock cube. Stir to combine. Season to taste with salt and pepper
9.
Add the “steaks” back into the pan. Bring to a boil and then reduce to a simmer. Simmer covered for about 10 minutes
10.
Remove the “steaks” and boil the sauce until it’s reached your desired thickness
11.
