Grilled dragon chives

1

10 min

Dragon chives are absolutely delicious vegetables. However, it is not used often due to its high price in Malaysia. In Chinese cuisine, it is often only used for celebrations or ceremonies.

Ingredients
  • 120g dragon chives (cut into 3 inch pieces)
  • ½ tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp honey (optional)
  • 1 tsp crushed peanuts
  • Chia seeds (garnish)
  • Salt (to taste)
Needed kitchenware
Instructions

1.

Season the dragon chives with the oil and salt

2.

If you have a grill, switch it on high heat and grill it for 3 minutes while constantly flipping it to give it a smoky taste. It should have a little bit of blackened edges to ensure the best flavour

3.

If you don’t have a grill, simply put a metal sieve directly on the stove in contact with the fire (this will blacken your sieve so be sure not to do it with your favourite sieve). Switch on the fire and once the sieve turns red hot, toss the dragon chives into the sieve and “grill” it for 3 minutes flipping it constantly.

4.

Once finished, plate it and garnish with the honey, the crushed peanuts, and the chia seeds.
