This is by far my favourite salad that I make so it always makes an appearance for bbqs and dinner parties. The real MVP is the onions, which do take time but are so delicious! Some other additions I like to make are sliced chicken, bacon pieces, chopped peppers, or grated cheddar.
For the salad:
For the dressing:

Heat a large pan over medium-low heat with the oil.

Add your onions, stir, season with salt, and allow to cook for about 25 minutes when they will get super tender and sweet. Do watch them so they don't burn.

Remove the onions from heat, and using the same pan, add the ingredients for the dressing and whisk to incorporate.
4.
Remove the onions from heat, and using the same pan, add the ingredients for the dressing and whisk to infuse.

Remove from heat and toss the salad with the dressing and onions.
