Apple Crumble
Eating apple crumble takes me right back to my Mum's home cooking as a child. It's such a delicious and indulgent dessert, and this is a much lighter version of this classic English dish with extra fibre to counteract those pesky carbs.

Classic Dishes
Ingredients
For the fruit mixture:
- 6 apples cored and sliced into 1cm slices
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ginger
- ¼ tsp all spice
- 1 tbsp arrowroot flour (or tapioca flour, usually found near baking soda)
For the crumble:
- ¾ cup oats
- ¼ cup almond flour
- 1 tbsp flaxseed
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 ½ tbsp butter, melted
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
Instructions
Step 1
Preheat your oven to 160°C.
Step 2
Add the apples to a bowl with 1 tbsp water and microwave for 6 minutes with the lid slightly ajar or a plate over the top of the bowl.
Step 3
Mix together all of the ingredients for the fruit mixture and add to the bottom of the baking dish.
Step 4
Mix together all of the ingredients for the crumble and then add on top of the fruit mixture.
Step 5
Bake in the oven for about 30 minutes.
